Our next issue will be May-June. Any out of state paid subscriptions will be extended so if you have paid for 1999 your subscription will now extend through 2000. This is necessary due to our shrinking extension faculty and budget restrictions. We will soon contact all of our out of state free subscribers asking them to access the newsletter from the internet or pay the subscription fee. Each time an issue is placed on the web page an e-mail message will be sent to subscribers containing the table of contents for that issue. We hope that this will save you time and provide you fast access to those items that interest you. The California Poultry Letter is now available on the internet at: http://etx.ucdavis.edu/avs/avsext.htm If you would like to look at current or future issues access this page on your browser and select "Newsletters" from the menu. You can then load any issue from the newsletter list. We currently have all of the 1998 and 1999 issues on this web page. You should be able to read them on your screen or print a copy. It would be helpful to us if our out of state free subscribers could send us their e-mail address. This will allow us to place the address onto a distribution list for future releases. We would like to thank all of our out of state readers for their interest in our newsletter We hope that this new distribution system will go smoothly. Wilson Way, Stockton, CA. May 26, 1999 - Anaheim Embassey Suites Hotel (corner La Jolla and Kramer) Egg processors are now required by California law to refrigerate table eggs at 45oF. Early field studies have indicated that many refrigerated egg storage rooms are not able to maintain 450F during the day when outside temperatures are high. This work-shop will address: 1. Basic priciples of design for egg storage rooms. 2. How to force air cool eggs on pallets. 3. Field tests on egg room temperatures. 4. Field test results from forced air egg cooling studies in California. A tour of a commercial produce cooler will be made by the group after lunch. There will be a registration fee of $25 to cover workshop expenses. A letter containing details will be mailed soon to all California egg processors. Interested persons can register as follows: Stockton workshop - telephone Ralph Ernst (530) 752-3513. Anaheim workshop - telephone Doug Kuney (909) 683-6491, ext. 226. If you get the answering machine please leave a message containing your company name, and the names of persons you wish to register.
