Reproduction Short Course
UC Davis Horse Barn and the Animal Science
Department are proud to offer our Equine
Reproduction Course to the public. The AI
Clinic is a hands on program with morning lectures
and afternoon labs. Lecture topics include
Stallion and Mare management, artificial
insemination, ultrasound techniques, semen
collection and evaluation, handling of fresh and
cooled semen, advanced reproductive techniques,
pregnancy and parturition, and mare and foal care.
Laboratory work includes handling and teasing of the
mare and stallion, hygiene, semen collection and
evaluation, and artificial insemination. This
course will equip you with the skills to start
breeding your own horses or simply to understand the
basics of equine reproduction. Space is
limited on a first come first serve basis.
