Trace Minerals for California Beef Cattle
University of California, Cooperative Extension
Kings County Mineral Data
Selenium
Samples (n=58) submitted to the California Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (CVDL) averaged 0.113 ppm whole blood Se (SD 0.058). Considering the potential sources of samples Se status should be classified as marginal. Further sampling is needed to identify potential local areas of deficiency.
Copper
Limited samples for serum and liver analysis to the CVDL suggest Cu status is adequate. Further testing is needed to confirm the limited samples.
Zinc
Samples from the CVDL show a wide variation in Zn status, some cattle are likely Zn deficient. Further testing is needed to identify potential local areas of deficiency.
