Trace Minerals for California Beef Cattle
University of California, Cooperative Extension
San Bernardino County Mineral Data
Selenium
Insufficient data are available for conclusions. Limited samples suggest Se may be adequate, but further testing is needed.
Copper
Serum samples (25) submitted to the California Veterinary Diagnostic Lab suggest Cu is marginal. Liver samples (18) averaged 127 ppm (SD 141) with 100 being deficient. The wide range suggests some cattle are Cu deficient. Further testing is needed, but cattle should be considered marginal for Cu until further testing is completed.
