  • Nadia Swanepoel won the Kutches Scholarship From ARPAS
  • Jill (Soderstrom) Havlin won the Memorial Scholarship from ARPAS
  • Jan Roser, Gerri Meyers-Brown, Marci Jennings & Meaghan Loud issued a patent for Activity of Recombinant Equine Follicle Stimulating Hormone, enabling anestrus mares to cycle; the patent may open doors to setting up a company and/or licensing the material

OUTREACH AND TRAVEL

  • Sandra Weisker led the Woodland High School Vet Science Class in a tour of the Small Animal Colony
  • Kirk Klasing presented lectures on nutrition & immunity in Edmonton & Saskatoon
  • Ermias Kebreab was in Ethiopia at the invitation of their Minister of Agriculture and IPO to assess potential areas of collaboration between UC Davis & Government of Ethiopia
  • Jan Carlson, Rachel Conway, James Moller, Kent Parker, Gabrielle Simon, Cass Tucker, & Joel Viloria key hosts & instructors for the California Dept. of Food and Ag Animal Health Division’s State Training Program; thanks too to Caleb Sehnert & the meat lab crew, Farm Crew & Dan Sehnert!
  • Jim Murray & Alison Van Eenennaam both spoke at the BIO livestock summit in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
  • Abbas Ahmadi travelling in Vietnam with Ermias Kebreab to work with Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop ration formulation software Taurus for Vietnamese beef cattle. This project is in cooperation with USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service
  • Frank Mitloehner speaking at Innovate 2014 in Brainerd MN on give his talk on Global Sustainability: Setting the Stage
