OUTREACH AND TRAVEL

  • Huaijun Zhou visited Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems at University of Florida last week and discussed potential collaboration with Program Director Dr. Adegbola Adesogan and faculty. He was also invited to attend a dinner reception by President Kent Fuchs.
  • Richard Blatchford co-authored a popular press article with Myrna Cadena (ANS alum, 2014) on Food Safety Facts: Egg Collection Dos and Don'ts in Chickens Magazine (May/ June 2016, p.16-22
  • Alison Van Eenennaam spoke on “Communicating Science in a Networked World” to Institute of Food Technologists Student Association Pacific Southwest Area Meeting, CalPoly, San Luis Obispo
  • Alyssa Benjamin, Andrea Schreier, Matt Thorstensen, & Mandi Finger attended the WDAFS meeting in Reno. Matt presented a poster on sturgeon, Mandi presented on genomics of Lahontan and Paiute cutthroat trout, & Alyssa spoke about conservation genetics of arroyo chub; Alyssa received a young professionals travel award
  • Amy Young, Alison Van Eenennaam, Anita Oberbauer, & Juan Medrano participated in a sheep improvement meeting held at the Davis campus
  • Jim Murray & Alison Van Eenennaam gave public comments at meeting on Modernizing the Regulatory System for Biotechnology
  • Frank Mitloehner presented “Sustainable Intensification: How to produce more animal protein without depleting natural resources” to the 21st Century All Livestock Clubs Meeting in Arizona
