  • Alison Van Eenennaam attended the DOC NYC, America's largest documentary film festival, premiere of the movie “Food Evolution” in NYC on 11/12/2016 which was listed as one of the must see movies of the New York Times documentary movie festival by the Village Voice; she was also in the Q&A that followed

RESEARCH

  • Richard Blatchford authored "Poultry welfare assessments: Current use and limitations" in Journal of Animal Science
  • Marla McPherson & Mary Delany co-authors of “Marek’s disease herpesvirus vaccines integrate into chicken host chromosomes yet lack a virus-host phenotype associated with oncogenic transformation” in Vaccine and highlighted on Elsevier webpage

OUTREACH AND TRAVEL

  • Richard Blatchford gave a talk on managing behavior in backyard flocks to 4-H leaders in San Luis Obispo
  • Tina Horback & Richard Blatchford attended the Applied Behavior and Welfare Multi-state group in Columbus, Ohio
  • Frank Mitloehner presented at the annual meeting of the Northern San Joaquin Veterinary Medical Association in Modesto, and at the Lander Veterinary Clinic in Turlock to dairymen & veterinarians and also at the South Dakota Farm Bureau’s 99th Annual Convention in Rapid City
  • Alison Van Eenennaam presentedto the Student Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Global Summit teleconference on “Communicating Food Science” and gave “Beef Genetics and Genomics Extension in US” talk at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia
