39th Annual UCD Dairy Cattle Day
March 22, 2000
Main Theater
University of California, Davis
The UC Davis Dairy Cattle Day program is an outreach activity of
the campus sponsored by the Department of Animal Science and the
Dairy Research and Information Center. The goal of Dairy Cattle
Day is to extend information on current and emerging issues
related to the dairy industry and general public. The information
provided may be used by dairy producers, dairy processors,
nutrition professionals, allied industry professionals, and the
general public.
The program for 2000 Dairy Cattle Day is presented below.
The most knowledgeable speakers are invited to participate on the
program, which means that individuals from all over the country
speak at Dairy Cattle Day. The break period during the morning
session gives folks attending the event a chance to visit with
speakers and friends and to enjoy the milk and cheese provided by
the patrons, sponsors and donors who provided financial support.
At the conclusion of the oral presentations, everyone travels to
the UC Davis Dairy Teaching & Research Facility for a box
lunch. Following the lunch, there are demonstrations. This
year there will be presentations on financing the capital cost of
improving waste management systems, biosecurity issues related to
Johne's disease, and the potential for UF-RO (ultrafiltration and
reverse osmosis).
There will be a panel discussion of labor management on the
dairy and demonstrations at the Dairy Facility on how to evaluate
your milking system.
To provide a high-quality program with speakers from various
regions of the state and country, financial contributions are
needed. A number of individuals and companies provide financial
support. This support is used to pay for room rentals, publishing
of the proceedings, and food and drink at the break. The financial
support of these individuals and companies contributes greatly to
the success of the program.
The registration fee to attend is $15, and the box lunch is $5.
A copy of the proceedings is available at registration. This year
the proceedings will be put on the web following Dairy Cattle Day.
