Farrier Workshop
Sunday, October 14 from 9 AM-3 PM
Presenter: Kirk Adkins and colleagues
The farrier workshop will consist of two sections: Lecture and wet lab.
The
lecture portion will include the following topics: 1. anatomy and physiology of
the foot, 2. biomechanics and common lamenesses, 3. recognition of shoeing and
conformation faults that predispose injuries, and 4. trimming and shoeing for
proper balance.
The wet lab will include limb dissections, conformation
evaluation for shoeing and live shoeing demonstration. There will also be a
discussion and demonstration of different shoe construction, materials and
properties.
