Farrier Workshop
Sunday, October 12 from 9 am - 3 pm

Presenter: Kirk Adkins and colleagues
The farrier workshop will consist of two sections: 

  1. Lecture and wet lab. The lecture portion will 
    include the following topics: 
    bullet

    Anatomy and physiology of the foot, 

    bullet

    Biomechanics and common lamenesses,

    bullet

    recognition of shoeing and conformation 
    faults that predispose injuries, and 

    bullet

    Trimming and shoeing for proper balance. 

  2. The wet lab will include limb dissections,
    conformation evaluation for shoeing and live
    shoeing demonstration. There will also be a
    discussion and demonstration of different
    shoe construction, materials and properties.
