The
Reuben Albaugh Scholarship is open to UC
Cooperative Extension Farm Advisors working in the
area of “animal agriculture” to assist their
educational opportunities by visiting the UC Davis
campus and provide opportunities for interaction
with Animal Science faculty and students.
Scholarship recipients will be provided a desk in
the Department of Animal Science and are highly
encouraged to interact with Animal Science faculty
and students during their stay.
HISTORY: The Scholarship was established by the
family of Reuben Albaugh, in memory of Reuben who
was a long-time Cooperative Extension Advisor and
Specialist. The scholarship is available to support
UCCE Farm Advisors to study on the UC Davis campus.
The scholarship was originally envisioned to help
support sabbatical leaves by Advisors. As
sabbatical leaves have become harder to arrange, due
to workload or other obligations, we are considering
scholarship proposals for shorter-term visits to
campus.
PRIORITIES: The Albaugh Scholarship is
intended to provide financial support to encourage
and enhance the educational opportunities for Farm
Advisors through visitation to the UCD campus.
On-campus interactions between Advisors and Animal
Science faculty and students are an important
component for awards. Multi-day stays preferred over
occasional daily visits, but both are eligible for
awards.
AWARDS: Award amounts will be dependent upon
length of proposed stay, activities, and number of
scholarships awarded during the annual cycle.
