Cindy is completing her doctoral studies in the Endocrinology Graduate Group. Cindy's thesis work has examined the effect of stress and a stress-associated hormone (cortisol) on GnRH receptor gene expression.
In addition, Cindy is conducting several applied projects. One of Cindy's projects seeks to use the immunocastration technology to delay puberty in beef heifers, thereby ensuring that first ovulation and conception occur only after the heifer has attained suitable size and weight.
Cindy is also leading collaborative studies (involving investigators at UCD and California State University, Chico) designed to promote out-of-season breeding in sheep using melatonin-containing implants.
