Project: Nutritional Regulation of the ovine hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian axis

Adequate nutrition is essential to prevent disregulation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian axis. Animals provided a diet that does not meet the nutritional requirement of the animal display a greater negative feedback response to estradiol, as measured by either LH or GnRH. The nutritionally restricted ovx ewe model that I have chosen allows for careful examination of the effects of long-term nutritional modulation on the hypothalamic response to poor nutrition both in the presence and absence of estradiol.
