Department of Animal Science, UC Davis
HIGHLIGHTS
A PUBLICATION FOR OUR ALUMNI AND FRIENDS
Spring 1997

Message from the Chair

[] Twice a year, usually in May and November, the Department of Animal Science Development Board meets with the faculty at Davis to discuss items of importance to the department and issues of mutual interest.

The board was established in 1991 and consists of 21 members representing various facets of animal production as well as allied industries and organizations. Seven members rotate off each year and seven new members are appointed.

The mission of the board is three-fold:

  1. To enhance partnerships and create a mutually beneficial network of contacts among the faculty of the department and representatives of the California animal industries (including companion and laboratory animals), statewide cooperative extension programs and other agencies, organizations and academic institutions involved with the animal industries.
  2. To keep the faculty of the department informed on issues related to animal industries in California and the West.
  3. To advise the department on issues that relate to its teaching, research and outreach programs.

The department is greatly appreciative of the time board members have taken from their busy schedules to support and assist the department on may important issues. We also value the many friendships that we have made.
