UC Davis is one of the top academic institutionsin the US in graduate and postdoctoral educationof fertilization and early development. There are more than 40 principle investigators at UC Davis engaged in various areas of reproductive biology research, making UC Davis one of the strongest reproductive biology institutions in the country. The training program faculty or trainers encompass two broad areas of reproductive biology, the cellular and molecular biology of fertilization and the cell biology and physiology of early development. Trainers are an interdisciplinary of investigators as reflected not only by research areas but also by graduate program affiliations. Graduate education at UC Davis encourages interaction and research exchange among faculty and students beyond departmental barriers due to its organizational structure. Graduate programs in which the trainers and trainees participate are: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, BMB; Biophysics, BPH; Cell and Developmental Biology, CDB; Chemistry, CHE; Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology, MCIP; Pharmacology and Toxicology, PHI; Comparative Pathology, GGCP; and Genetics, GGG.
