About Us


The Psittacine Research Project, begun in the Department of Avian Sciences in 1979 by Prof. C.R. Grau, consists of interested faculty, graduate and undergraduate students who have a common interest in parrots.  The Project's experimental colonies and the sponsoring faculty are affiliated with the the Department of Animal Science.   Faculty from the School of Veterinary Medicine and College of Biological Sciences also participate in the Project.  The research focus of the Project is reproduction, behavior and welfare, nutrition and immunology.
