The University of California, Davis campus has a variety of programs available for students who wish to pursue the study of parrots. Students interested in research have access to two of the very few psittacine breeding research facilities in the nation.
The psittacine research colonies are an important resource in the undergraduate course AVS 123 Management of Companion Birds. The general study of avian biology can be pursued at the undergraduate level through any of the following majors:
At the graduate level, UC Davis offers M.S. degrees in Avian Sciences and Animal Science, as well as Ph.D. degrees in a variety of disciplinary areas such as Animal Behavior, Physiology, Nutrition and Ecology, to name a few. Research faculty associated with the Project advise students in these and other graduate groups.
