The M.S. degree in Animal Science was renamed the M.S. degree in Animal Biology, in Spring 2004.  The M.S. in Animal Biology is supervised by the Animal Biology Graduate Program.  This has been an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary program reflecting the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of animal biology. Research interests of mentoring faculty covers a continuum from basic to applied.

In general, research is mission-oriented recognizing that practical solutions require a sound knowledge of the complete biology of the organism, system, and environment. Over 25 faculty work in disciplines such as behavior, ecology, genetics, nutrition, and physiology.

The Animal Biology Graduate Group is housed in the Department of Animal Science. Mentoring faculty are located inside and outside the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
