ANS 136. Techniques and Practices of Fish Culture (3) I

One hour Lecture and 6 hours Laboratory per Week. Prerequisite: ANS 2. This course will provide students with hands-on experience and practical understanding of the daily care and maintenance of fish in personal aquarium, research institute, and commercial production. The course will emphasize the biological and environmental factors important to sound management of fish. Students will conduct a 4-week feeding trial and six laboratories to develop an understanding on the care and maintenance of fish in culture and more important, the science of conducting a growth experiment. This course is designed to follow the Animal Science Undergraduate Objective of Laboratory Activity and thus can be used to fulfill the Laboratory Requirement.

ANS 137. Techniques and Practices of Avian Culture (3) III

One hour Lecture and 6 hours Laboratory per Week. Prerequisite: ANS 2. This course will provide students with hands-on experience and practical understanding of the daily care and maintenance of avian species in personal use, research, and commercial production. The course will emphasize the biological and environmental factors important to sound management of avian species. Students will conduct a 5-week feeding trial and five laboratories to develop an understanding on the care and maintenance of avian in culture and more important, the science of conducting a growth experiment. This course is designed to follow the Animal Science Undergraduate Objective of Laboratory Activity and thus can be used to fulfill the Laboratory Requirement.
