Happy spring

NEWS & EVENTS

  • Animal and Dairy Science students and faculty from Ghent University visited the department’s animal facilities. Presentations were given by Ed DePeters, Dan Sehnert, Doug Gisi, Aaron Prinz, Don Harper, Kelli Davis, Caleb Sehnert, and student Orlando Ochoa.

OUTREACH & TRAVEL

  • The Livestock Judging Team practiced at the Tehama Angus Ranch and met owner, Bill Borror, a UC Davis alum and former judging team member.
  • Huaijun Zhou was invited to attend Agricultural Research Connection (ARC) supported by Gates Foundation held at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Alison Van Eenennaam spoke on “Communicating science in a Networked World” to the Associated Milk Producers Inc (AMPI) Annual Meeting in Minnesota; at the Science and Society Public Forum at the Woodland Library on “What are Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)? And why are they so controversial?”; and gave two presentations at the Golden State Dairy Conference in Stockton on “Genomics and big data: can’t have one without the other” and “Use of gene editing to introduce the polled trait into elite germplasm”.
