  • ANS Goat Facility received a permanent champion letter for CH Olentangy Tumultuous Firework, a 2 year old LaMancha buck.
  • ANS ram won Supreme Champion Ram at the California State Fair.

RESEARCH

  • Brian Greco, Joy Mench and Jennifer Heinsius (Animal Science undergrad) co-author: “Why pace? The influence of social, housing, management, life history, and demographic characteristics on locomotor stereotypy in zoo elephants” in Applied Animal Behavior Science.

OUTREACH & TRAVEL

  • Kathryn Jackson travelled to Sydney Australia August 14-18, visiting University of Sydney Global Motility and Faculty of Science to generate interest for their students in studying animal science at UC Davis.
  • Amy McLean attended the 1st International Symposium on Donkey Science in Donge County, China as an invited speaker.
  • Sheep Barn student assistants attended the California Wool Growers Association Conference in Cambria.
  • Dan Sehnert attended the American Association of Meat Processors Annual Convention held in Lexington, KY and served as judge at the North American Cured Meat Championship.
  • Don Harper, Caleb Sehnert, Bob Sainz, Jim Oltjen, Sara Klopatek and Dan Sehnert attended the Annual Yolo County Cattlemen and Wool Growers Fall Speaker Program and Dinner.
