Research Interests
I have a broad range of interests and enjoy collaborating with agency biologists and other researchers to use genetic tools to manage threatened and endangered species. Some of these species include the Owens pupfish, Paiute cutthroat trout, and the delta smelt. I am also interested in using newer technologies, such as next-generation sequencing, to find candidate loci that are under selection, such as those for disease resistance or spawn timing. Additionally, I am working with Postdoctoral Researcher Alan Hitch, Ph.D. to collect molecular data to identify and describe new species of bats collected in Indonesia, and Adjunct Faculty Josh Hull Ph.D. on a population genetics study of White-tailed Hawks and Red-shouldered Hawks.
