New Student Information

Welcome New Students!

Our Department houses three majors, Agricultural and Environmental Education, Animal Science and, Animal Science and Management. Now that you have completed Aggie 101 and your Aggie Checklist you are ready to review the following information in preparation for scheduling your first quarter at UC Davis. This webpage is meant to be a resource for you as you prepare for your first quarter at UC Davis. We invite you to return to this website frequently for any questions that you might have. Remember that we are here for you!

Advising for First Year Incoming Students

We strongly recommend that each incoming first year student attend a Group Advising session! Please check your UC Davis email to find more information regarding timing for the Group Advising sessions. In your Group Advising session, you will be meeting with one of our four Staff Advisors (Caitlin, Emma, Katherine or Quynh), and Peer Advisors in a small group setting. We will address any questions you may have pertaining to your Fall schedule, such as what General Education courses to select, placement exam information, any Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate scores you may have, or any coursework you may have transferred from another institution. We will help you select courses for your Fall schedule and answer any questions you may have to help prepare you to register in the coming weeks.

One-on-one advising appointments will become available later in the summer.

Once you are here in the Fall, you may then schedule an in-person, or remote appointment with either a Peer Advisor or Staff Advisor to create a full academic plan.

Advising for First Year Transfer Students

In your appointment, we will review your Transfer Credit Summary, and provide recommendations for your Fall Quarter schedule. We will answer any questions you may have to help prepare you to register in the coming weeks. Once you are here in the Fall, you may then schedule an in-person, or remote appointment with either a Peer Advisor or Staff Advisor to create a full academic plan.
