1931-2013
Doald L. Bath Of St. Helena, CA, passed away on Oct. 26, 2013. He was 81. Don was born on Dec. 15, 1931 in Santa Rosa, CA, the eldest son of George and June Bath.
He attended Santa Rosa H.S. where he served as Student Body President, FFA Chapter President and quarterbacked the Panther football team. After obtaining his B.S. and M.S. in Animal Husbandry from UC Davis, Don taught Agriculture and coached the JV football team at Santa Rosa H.S. At Davis, he served as President of the SAE fraternity, played for the Aggie football team, and obtained his PhD in Nutrition.
Don worked as a Dairy Nutrition Extension Specialist for UC Davis for 30 years, authoring 350 pub-lications, including the widely-used textbook "Dairy Cattle: Principles, Practices, Problems, Profits."
He served as President of the American Dairy Science Association and, in 1996, received the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Award of Distinction.
He was married for 59 years to the love of his life, Gloria Brodie, with whom he had two sons, Robert and Daniel. Don loved his family and lived for their happiness. He is survived by his wife, sons, five granddaughters, Natalie, Danielle, Madison, Michelle and Kellie, and his sister, Darlyn.
