Welcome! This page is for students pursuing a Change of Major or considering Double Majors in Agricultural and Environmental Education, Animal Science, and Animal Science and Management—we’re glad you’re here. In order to change your major to one of our three majors, you will need to follow these steps:
General Requirements
- Students must be in Good Academic Standing (Completing a minimum of one quarter at UC Davis, earn a minimum 2.0 UC GPA and meeting Minimum Progress Requirements).
- Students must have an academic advising appointment with either a Peer or Staff Advisor in the Animal Science Advising Center. To make an appointment, please email us at: [email protected].
- Students must have an approved Academic Plan on OASIS.
- First Year students must have at least an approved 3 quarter plan on record
- First Year Transfer and Continuing Students must have an approved graduation plan which contains all Major Requirements on record
- Double Major students must have a complete graduation plan on record that has been approved by both majors.
- Double Majors must have taken at least one upper-division course and earned a C or higher.
- Double Majors must confirm with both their current, and intended double major advisor that they will not exceed the overlap allowance (no more than 20%, approximately 2 courses) for upper-division coursework between both majors.
- Once all of the requirements have been met, submit your Change of Major Petition on the OASIS portal.
Change of Major Requirements for Animal Science
Effective Fall 2026, all students wishing to Change their Major, or Double Major in Animal Science must meet the following course and GPA requirements in addition to the General Requirements above.
- Complete the following courses and maintain a 2.50 GPA across the entire group
- BIS 2A, 2B, 2C or BIO 1, 1L, 2, 2L, BIO 3
- CHE 2A, 2B
- CHE 8A, 8B or 118A, 1118B
- MAT 17A, 17B or 19A, 19B or 21A, 21B
- All courses must be taken for a letter grade, with no grade less than a C- for any of the above requirements.
